Get yourself anchored with these cruise tips

Cabin location: Midship, lower decks are best if you're prone to motion sickness. With the size of today's ships and the use of stabilizers, seasickness should only be an issue on the roughest of seas.

Seasickness: Prevention is the best solution. Dramamine for motion sickness will make you drowsy. Bonine is just as effective and keeps you awake to enjoy some of that nightlife. Bonine also comes in a generic form called meclizine that is cheaper. If you prefer a more natural solution, ginger capsules might do the trick. Whichever you choose, begin taking it the morning of your cruise and then once a day -- probably in the evening because that's when you're most likely to be at sea.

Most people tend to over pack for a cruise. On a seven-day voyage there are two "formal nights" requiring a tux-suit for guys and a gown or after-five attire for women. Beyond that, count on wearing each outfit twice to reduce your luggage load. You'll need that extra space for purchases in the various ports.
